Tiarella — 9 species
Tiarella (foamflower) is a graceful, clump-forming or spreading perennial native to North American woodlands, producing frothy spikes of white to pale-pink flowers in spring above deeply lobed, often marbled foliage. Cultivars like 'Iron Butterfly' and 'Spring Symphony' make excellent ground covers in shaded borders. It grows best in partial to full shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil; it does not tolerate prolonged drought or hot afternoon sun. All Tiarella species are toxic to cats and dogs.
