Stapelia is a genus of fleshy, leafless succulents from southern Africa, grown for their striking star-shaped flowers — most famously on Stapelia grandiflora and the Noble Carrion Flower. The blooms mimic rotting flesh in scent and colour to attract fly pollinators, a curiosity best enjoyed outdoors. Grow in bright direct to indirect light and water sparingly, allowing soil to dry completely between sessions; overwatering causes stem rot.
