Sinningia37 species

Sinningia is a diverse genus of Brazilian gesneriads ranging from the velvety-petalled florist gloxinia (Sinningia speciosa) to the delicate white-trumpet and large-stalked species grown by collectors. They grow from tubers and produce lush, hairy foliage that frames tubular or bell-shaped flowers in orange, red, purple, and white. Bright indirect light and consistently moist but never waterlogged soil — with excellent drainage — keep them thriving; the tuber rots easily in soggy conditions. According to the ASPCA, Sinningia is non-toxic to both cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet-friendly homes.
