Rhapis — 8 species
Rhapis is a small genus of clumping fan palms native to subtropical Asia, prized indoors for their elegant, deeply segmented fronds and slow, tidy growth. Lady Palm (Rhapis excelsa) and its relatives adapt well to bright indirect light but tolerate medium and even low light far better than most palms. Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry, keeping moisture even but never waterlogged. All Rhapis species are confirmed non-toxic to cats and dogs by the ASPCA, making the genus an excellent choice for pet-friendly homes.
