Genus guide
Rebutia — 17 species
Rebutia is a genus of small, globe-forming cacti native to Bolivia and Argentina, popular for producing rings of brilliantly coloured flowers at the base of the plant from late spring onward. Species such as Rebutia krainziana and the White-haired Crown Cactus stay compact indoors and reward a south-facing windowsill with several hours of bright direct sun. Water thoroughly in spring and summer when soil dries out, then keep almost dry over winter to trigger blooming. Toxicity varies by species — verify each one before introducing it to a home with cats or dogs.
