Genus guide
Primulina — 23 species
Primulina is a diverse genus of compact, rosette-forming gesneriads native to limestone karst regions of southern China and Vietnam, grown indoors for their velvety foliage and delicate tubular flowers. They thrive in bright, indirect light — a north or east-facing window suits them well — and prefer to dry slightly between waterings, as soggy soil invites root rot. Use tepid water and keep it off the leaves. Toxicity varies across the genus; check each species before buying if you have cats or dogs.
