Platycerium — 13 species
Platycerium — the staghorn ferns — are striking epiphytic ferns native to tropical and subtropical regions, prized for their antler-shaped fertile fronds and flat basal shield fronds. They thrive in bright indirect light and should be kept away from harsh direct sun. Water deeply once a week in warm months and every one to two weeks in cooler periods; they absorb moisture through fronds as well as roots, so regular misting and high humidity (60–75%) are beneficial. According to the ASPCA, staghorn ferns are non-toxic to cats and dogs.
