They grow best in full sun with at least five to six hours of direct light daily and prefer moderately moist, well-drained soil; water when the top inch feels dry and avoid prolonged soggy conditions. Petunias are non-toxic to cats and dogs according to the ASPCA, making them one of the safer choices for pet-friendly gardens and hanging baskets.
