Genus guide
Neoregelia — 18 species
Neoregelia is a genus of striking New World bromeliads grown as much for their vivid, blushing foliage rosettes as for their modest central flowers. Most cultivars — from the boldly variegated Marble Bromeliad to Flandria — produce their best colour in bright indirect light, though many tolerate lower levels. Water by filling the central cup formed by the leaf rosette and refreshing it monthly to prevent stagnation; let the potting medium stay on the dry side. Neoregelia is listed as non-toxic to cats and dogs by the ASPCA, making it a pet-safe choice.
