Mandevilla is a genus of vigorous tropical vining plants from Central and South America, celebrated for their large, trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of red, pink, and white — familiar in garden centers as Dipladenia or Shining Mandevilla. They require full sun (six or more direct hours) and well-draining soil; water deeply but allow the top layer to partially dry between waterings to avoid root rot. All parts of Mandevilla — leaves, stems, flowers, and milky sap — are toxic to cats and dogs and can cause vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, and lethargy if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets.
