Lilium — 24 species
Lilium encompasses the true lilies — stately, bulbous perennials including Madonna, Easter, Tiger, and Martagon lilies prized for their large, fragrant blooms. They require a sunny to lightly shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil and consistent moisture during the growing season, with a dry winter rest for the bulbs. Every part of the plant — flowers, pollen, leaves, and bulbs — is severely toxic to cats and dogs. In cats even minor pollen exposure can trigger acute kidney failure within 72 hours. Keep all Lilium species completely away from pets.
