Haworthia is a genus of compact, rosette-forming succulents native to southern Africa, prized for their architectural leaf patterns, translucent windows, and forgiving nature — Cooper's Haworthia and the Star Window Plant are popular examples. Unlike most succulents, Haworthias tolerate lower light levels and even thrive in bright indirect light, making them ideal for windowsills without harsh afternoon sun. Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry completely before watering again. According to the ASPCA, Haworthia is non-toxic to cats and dogs.
