Fittonia is a genus of compact, low-growing tropical perennials — including the red nerve plant, Fittonia albivenis 'Skeleton', and Fittonia albivenis 'Juanita' — treasured indoors for their vivid, intricately veined foliage in shades of white, red, and pink. They thrive in bright to moderate indirect light and dislike direct sun, which scorches their delicate leaves. Keep soil evenly moist and humidity above 50 percent; they are perfect terrarium subjects. Fittonia species are non-toxic to cats and dogs, confirmed by ASPCA.
