Cupressus — 15 species
Cupressus are aromatic evergreen conifers ranging from the columnar Italian Cypress to the lemon-scented Goldcrest form of Monterey Cypress. Indoors, they need a cool position with six or more hours of bright, direct light and consistent but moderate watering — keeping the soil just barely moist while avoiding waterlogged roots. They dislike heated rooms and perform best where temperatures stay below 18 °C (65 °F) in winter. All Cupressus species are toxic to cats and dogs; keep plants well out of reach of pets and seek veterinary advice immediately if ingestion occurs.
