Anubias — 9 species
Anubias is a genus of slow-growing, semi-aquatic plants native to tropical African rivers and streams, typically grown fully or partially submerged in freshwater aquariums. Species such as Anubias barteri var. barteri, var. nana, and var. nana 'Petite' thrive in low to moderate light and tolerate a wide range of water parameters, making them ideal for beginners. As members of the Araceae family, all Anubias species contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that are toxic to cats and dogs, causing oral irritation, drooling, and gastrointestinal upset if chewed.
